Chief Engineer /First Assistant Engineer

Training programs for Chief and First Assistant Engineers include:

• Engineering principles and application of thermodynamics for climate control and efficient machinery operations involving diesel engines, boilers, gas turbines and electrical, electronics and control engineering applications on board ships
• Operation, maintenance, and safety of ship machinery, equipment, and spaces for the conduct and performance of engines and economical use of consumable supplies, stores , water, fuel and lube oil with control of ship-source pollution of the environment
• Discussion of US and international regulations for pollution prevention and various inspection regimes that affects vessel operation
• Shipboard safety including the safe working practices, risk management, emergency preparations and required response under emergencies for shipboard fire, machinery breakdown and other accidents are part of the curriculum.
